Paraiso is the new independent film of Cuban-American writer/director León Ichaso. Entirely shot in Miami, with a crew of 10 and 4 film students, it had its World Premiere at the Miami International Film Festival.

Paraíso es el nuevo film independiente del escritor/director cubanoamericano León Ichaso. Rodada en Miami, con un equipo de 10 personas y 4 estudiantes de cine, tuvo su Première Mundial en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Miami.

Leon Ichaso Biography

Cuban-American director Leon Ichaso was born in Havana, Cuba into a family of well known writers, journalists and artists.

His father Justo Rodríguez Santos was one of Cuba’s most respected poets and a pioneer in broadcast TV and radio -and his mother Antonia Ichaso had a radio magazine show in the 40’s.

Ichaso left the island for exile in the United States with his mother and sister at age 14. His father stayed behind to continue his unwavering support for the Cuban Revolution. Five years later he joined his family in New York.

Leon Ichaso is known as 'an actor's director' for the stellar performances of the actors who work under his direction. Also as a writer and director who does not compromise as he tells his tales --and a filmmaker who specializes in gritty urban realism.

Más que buen músico, buen arreglista, gran cubano, súper conspirador, colaborador y artista, Piferrer era tremendo amigo.

Amigo de todos los que venían con una canción, un proyecto, con o sin dinero, amigo del talento.Hace dos semanas grabamos una nueva versión del viejo YAYABO. Descemer Bueno “y sus Cubiches”, hicieron las voces. Dos cubas. Pudimos compartir, reír y hacer comentarios de Miami -de lo que nos queda, de los que nos recuerdan. El aire acondicionado del estudio “estaba roto”, eso me lo anunció con una sonrisa y prendiendo un cigarro; sus ojos llenos de buena cara -así vivió hasta el último día.

Para él no había mal tiempo. La tempestad era eterna, después de haber dejado atrás otras vidas, pero le daba fuerzas para seguir rumbeando, como aquel ultimo día, mientras cantaba en aquel calor de Miami, “tú que me decías que Yayabo no salía mas”.Salúdame a Virgilio, a Mauricio, dale un beso al viejo Justo, que tanto te quiso. No dejes de sonreír nunca. Ese es tu mejor arreglo.
